Fashion Advice: Durban July 2012

Last week’s Dress according to the occasion post was a mini introduction for today’s fashion advice.
It’s that time of the year, where ladies and gents are preparing for Durban July Handicap 2012. Like every other year there’s a theme and this year’s theme is A MATERIAL WORLD. Clearly this theme was inspired by the COP17 conference held last year in Durban. If you are planning to go and still trying to figure out how to stick to the theme….well you are in the right place. Two things come to my mind with this year’s them. Eco Friendly and Red carpet.
Eco friendly: think green, think earthy colors, think recycling fabric/material, think organic fabric, think nature, flowers.
Red carpet: this is quite diverse. The point is to look like "a material girl". Look like the star that you are. The options here are endless. From current lace gowns/dresses, classic silhouettes, refined, glam and elegant.
Of course an outfit is never complete without hair accessories ladies! Yes bring out those hair fascinators, hats, flowers etc. Whatever you choose to wear look trendy, chic, be comfortable (very important) and have funs creating your looks!

Pepenero Vibes

I love Cape Town for this reason! Great food! Brilliant restaurants! I’ve said this before what draws me into a restaurant it’s the decor and then the food etc. Pepenero fortunately has both beautiful setting and good food, did I mention the half price sushi and cocktails and the ocean view! Well, if you find yourself in Mouille Point hungry or thirsty or both. Definitely check this place out. Lol I should have done marketing in school ....
Hope everyone is having a great day

Fashion Friday: Africa Day

Fashion Friday on Africa Day! Celebrating Africa Day in style! Africa is rich with culture, beauty, soul and amazing people; let’s strive to make Africa the best continent! Today’s post features the hot fashion trends from denim shirt, florals, leather jacket, lace and of course tribal prints. Do enjoy! Thanks to all who contributed today.
I just found out about the annual Twitter Blanket Drive happening tomorrow. With winter coming up this is an awesome opportunity for you to bless someone less fortunate than you with warm clothes and / or blankets. To participate on this great initiative go to http://www.twitterblanketdrive.co.za/index.php for more info. I’m also planning to pop by with a blankie. I’ll leave you with a quote from Nelson Mandela.
“I dream of the realization of the unity of Africa, whereby its leaders combine in their efforts to solve the problems of this continent. I dream of our vast deserts, of our forests, of all our great wildernesses”
Until next week….stay styling

Fashion Advice: Dress according to the occasion

Dress for and according to the occasion, recently there was the Met Gala event (great example) where people were really dressed up which I loved. Whether it’s a theme party, wedding, and of course our local evens SAMA music awards, J&B Met, Metro FM Awards etc step up to the occasion. For me there’s nothing more dull, never mind boring than a person who doesn’t make an effort to dress for a particular occasion. I think if you are going to show up to an event at least do it fashionably well. Getting it right or wrong? Well that’s another story. Next week we look at ideas for Durban July 2012 one of the biggest events in South Africa! The best advice I can give for now, is to be creative. This does not mean going overboard…but if you can, then why not!
Life is an occasion, Dress accordingly!

Fashion Friday: Family Feature

What a beautiful Fashion Friday this side of town! Cloudy, cold, expecting rain and maybe snow in some parts of the Cape this weekend, so there’ll be lots of snuggling, movies and all the winter fashion! Today’s post featuring my Cape Town family, my monkeys. The amount of pleading I do to get these pics, from licking toes and all shew but it’s all worth it cos I do it for the love. Many Thanks for co-operating! So earlier on I had this idea to collect pics via twitter throughout the week to keep the Fashion Friday slot a bit more interesting! Take pics of anything that caught your eye it doesn’t have to be clothes or shoes, just your “inspiration” for that week and I’ll post them right here. Once again thank you for popping by every week, I can see the number of people visiting the blog has increased. Appreciate it! Until next week please keep sending those pics tquoiz(at)gmail.com . Shout out to Rato’s colleague for taking the pics, talk about team work!

Fashion Advice: Spring 2012-2013 Men Color

As usual used polyvore for the clothing images

Seasons come and they go. We might be in winter now, but nothing is stopping us from spring forecasting so that when spring hits! We are all up in this business! Today focusing on men! Now that I have your attention let’s get going with the day’s advice….Mint is the word and color for spring 2012/2013. I love mint cos it’s close to turquoise lol yes and it’s such a cool, fresh, calm color and I think anyone can pull it off. It’s just one of those colors! It’s also a haute color for ladies!

Happy Fashion Friday!
It only appropriate to dedicate this post to our lovely mothers since its mother’s day on Sunday! Put together ideas on “matching outfits” for mothers and their kids! Unfortunately I won’t see my mom anytime soon but I’ll sure give her a call. Happy Mother’s Day to all you fab mommies!

Fashion Advice: Cap Toe

I spotted this Cap Toe trend a while back from fellow bloggers and recently on fashion forward celebrities like Solange Knowles! Cap Toe shoe are definitely going to be big in this spring / summer! The great thing about this trend is that the Cap Toe shoes also come in flats, which is awesome! I know some people think color blocking is outdated but I don’t think so. Color blocking has always been around and ain’t going nowhere especially with the cap toe shoes! Who’s getting a pair?

Fashion Friday

It has been a fairly short week, thanks to the public holidays!  I was away since last week all the way back in Mpumalanga for a family ceremony, wait for it wait for it….my sisters lobola! It was indeed a memorable day. I was too busy cooking, peeling veggies and running around I didn’t even take pictures. But thank goodness that there will be another ceremony soon. This will be the big celebration! I’ll definitely take pics of all the tradition food and outfits. Back to Fashion! We still on that Fashion Friday tip where Tquoiz brings you your weekly dose of fashion! I'm excited to present to you  this week’s post…. Enjoy! Have a lovely weekend.
