Miss Kayamandi 2011

Last Friday night, I was a judge for Miss Kayamandi 2011!
Kayamandi is a township in Stellenbosch.  Paul my colleague and the organiser of the event asked me to assist and I gladly accepted. There were two categories the juniors age 14-16 and seniors age 17-21 (beautiful young women).
So back to me being a judge, it was my second time judging actually!
Most of my ratings, I mean all of the ratings were based on gut feeling…and they were so close cos I liked everyone lol…well that’s just me.
But with the help of the other judges Yonda, Tsholo, and Enigma I think we chose the three best ladies. They were all good in my eyes thou.
It was a great night, different from the norm (what I usually get up to).
For the evening wear category, the girls were dressed by a designer from Kayamandi Lebogang Masokanye! Stunning dresses, I loved how she used isishweshwe for some of the dresses! Keeping it 100% African! Oh and instead of the winners wearing crowns they wore Xhosa traditional hats. Brilliant idea!
We were entertained by music and dance! There’s so much talent out there!

Congratulations to the winners. 2011 Miss Kayamandi junior Phelisa Ntsakotha, 1st princess Boniswa Magwa and 2nd princess Khaya Xaxa.
Miss Kayamandi senior Ezethu Salaze, 1st princess Simbulele Mncedana and 2nd princess Reatile Monaheng.
The amazing thing about the winners is that they both won miss personality! Where the contestants voted for them!
Will keep tabs on how they do!
